The fire brigades are fighting the flare-ups in the areas of Lefkimmi, Treis Vryses, Leptokarya and Kotronia in Evros – Scattered outbreaks in Parnitha
For the 11th day the fire is raging in Evro with the fire brigade continuing the difficult task of putting out the fire.
Shortly after 6 pm, an evacuation order was given to residents in the Kotronia area, calling them to move to Giannouli due to a forest fire in their area.

In Evros, the fire brigades are faced with the flare-ups. They are dealing with a total of 87 fires throughout the territory, while in the last twenty-four hours there were 44 new forest fires, most of which, according to information from the Fire Department, were dealt with immediately, in their initial stage.
– In Parnitha, strong forces are operating and facing scattered small fires, mainly on its southwest side, near the Clan Fortress
– In Evros, flare-ups are being dealt with in the areas of Lefkimmi, Treis Vryses, Leptokarya and Kotronia.
Assistance in dealing with the fires is provided by forces from the European Civil Protection Mechanism, specifically Cyprus with one aircraft operating in Alexandroupoli and 31 firefighters operating in Lykomagoula Evros, Germany with two aircraft operating in the wider area of Fili in Attica, France with two aircraft operating in the wider area of Alexandroupolis, the Czech Republic with one helicopter operating in Distomos Boeotia and 30 firefighters with 6 vehicles operating in Cotronia Evros, Romania with 53 firefighters with 10 vehicles operating in Kirki Alexandroupolis, Bulgaria with 36 firefighters and five vehicles operating in Leptokarya Evros, Slovakia with 39 firefighters with eight vehicles operating in Lefkimmi Alexandroupolis, Serbia with 16 firefighters with four vehicles operating in Papikio Komotini. Also through an international agreement, Albania with 46 firefighters with five vehicles operating in the forest of Dadia.
Also, assistance is provided by a large number of volunteer firefighters, forces provided by the General Staff of National Defense and the Hellenic Police, as well as water tankers and machinery from the Regions.
The local investigative offices, as well as units of the Arson Crimes Directorate (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires, it is also noted by the Fire Department.
For tomorrow, Wednesday 30/08/2023, the risk of fire remains high in many areas of the country. The personnel of the Fire Services of the territory remain on general alert in order to deal with the increased service demands, which have arisen due to the large number of fires, while aerial surveillance patrols continue, as well as patrols by Fire, Police and Military forces.
Finally, the Fire Brigade calls on all citizens to be particularly careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to faithfully follow the instructions of the competent Authorities.
