Two important projects for Thessaloniki, the construction of a pediatric hospital as well as the construction of the Flyover, are going to start in the coming months.

In particular, the construction stage of the “flyover” on the Thessaloniki ring road is expected to begin in mid-October. It will precede – at the end of September – the submission of specific proposals to facilitate traffic in the city and the limitation of disruption, due to the works, in the daily life of the citizens. At the same time, interventions are launched in five fields.

This was decided during the second information meeting of the agencies for the “flyover”, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christou Staikouras, which took place last night at the offices of “Hellenic Metro SA” in Pylaia Thessaloniki and resulted in a unanimous agreement of three points.

At the end of September, specific proposals will be submitted that will allow in mid-October the start of the construction stage of the project. Mr. Staikouras requested, among other things, “intelligent solutions” regarding the facilitation of traffic in the city of Thessaloniki and close cooperation of all those involved.

Pediatric Hospital

Within the next few months the works for the construction of the Children’s Hospital of Thessaloniki will begin, while the issue of the construction of the oncology hospital is at an early stage, as stated by the Deputy Minister of Health Dimitris Vartzopoulos, after the meeting of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the deputies of the New Democracy in the 1st and 2nd electoral districts of Thessaloniki.

“For the pediatric hospital, the case is over. The contract of the financier, which is the “Niarchos” foundation, has been signed with the subcontractors and we hope that within the next few months the first bulldozers will enter. As far as the Oncology Hospital of Thessaloniki is concerned, this is still at an early stage and in a few months more specific announcements will be made”, said Mr. Vartzopoulos.

According to what the MPs Stratos Simopoulos, Theodoros Karaoglou, Costas Giulekas, Anna Efthymiou, Dimitris Kouvelas, Stavros Kalafatis, Fanis Papas emphasized, at the meeting all the major issues of the city were raised and they themselves raised issues that have to do with the Metro, the Fly Over road axis, the resources of the Recovery Fund, the land workers etc.
