Reactions are expected to be caused by the move of the NATO Ground Forces Headquarters based in Izmir to wish with a congratulatory message on Twitter to Turkey for the victory of the Turkish army, on August 30, 1922, over the Greek forces in the battle of Dublupinar in Mikra, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Asia Minor Disaster of 1922.

Specifically in a post it states:

The administration wishes “Happy Victory and Turkish Armed Forces Day to our host nation. On this very special day, we would like to express our gratitude to Turkey for hosting us on this special day. Since joining NATO in 1952, Turkey has taken part in many operations and exercises and its soldiers have always shown great professionalism and determination. Turkey and NATO are stronger and safer together.”

It is recalled that last year on the same day, the NATO administration in Smyrna made the same move. in fact causing the strongest reaction of Greece, e.ghe made progress in NATO and asked for an explanation and got the post deleted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to information transmitted by ERT, has taken up the issue of NATO’s wishes in Ankara and our permanent delegation is proceeding with the appropriate actions.

There were also reactions from the side of SYRIZA, talking about the double-dealing of the NATO administration in Smyrna which proves the effects of the logic of the faithful and given ally that the ND government follows in foreign policy.

“As it also says a lot,” adds SYRIZA, “and the delay of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs to give the appropriate response, while last year it had made a protest march to the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.”

In particular, in the same announcement it is stated “for the second year in a row, the NATO Ground Forces Headquarters based in Izmir, repeated the same mistake. He sent a congratulatory message to Turkey for the victory of the Turkish army, on August 30, 1922, over the Greek forces in the Battle of Dublupinar in Asia Minor, expressing “gratitude” to Turkey “for hosting us on this special day”.
