Between regions Soufli, Kornofolia, Dadia, Kotronia, Sidiro and Giannouli the forces of the Fire Department continue to operate in Evros.

A total of 68 fires are facing throughout the territory, while in the last twenty-four hours there were 32 new forest fires, most of which were dealt with immediately, in their initial stage, as reported by the fire department.

Particularly:

In Parnitha firefighting efforts continue, mainly on its southwest side near the Clan Fort.

To Evro the fire brigades operate mainly between the areas of Soufli, Kornofolia, Dadia, Kotronia, Sidiro and Giannouli.

In the Chikraki of Farsala firefighting forces continue to attempt, dealing with scattered outbreaks.

In Korona Kilkis 26 firefighters with 11 vehicles and a helicopter are operating. Subsidiaries are provided by local water bodies and project machinery.

In Aspropoulia of Messinia, a message was sent from 112 to the residents of the Aspropoulia area, in order to move away to Kalamata, Messinia. 54 firefighters with 3 groups of infantry departments, 12 vehicles, 9 aircraft and a helicopter are working on the fire. Assistance is provided by volunteer firefighters, as well as by water tankers and project machinery.

In the Geraki Ilias they operate 45 firefighters with 3 teams of walking departments, 12 vehicles, two aircraft and a helicopter. Subscription is provided by local water bodies and project machinery.

In addition, the European Civil Protection Mechanism with forces from France, Spain, Cyprus, Romania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Albania and Serbia provides assistance in dealing with the fires.

Also, assistance is provided by a large number of volunteer firefighters, forces that have been made available by the General Staff of National Defense and the Greek Police, as well as water tankers and machinery from the Regions.

The local investigative offices, as well as units of the Arson Crimes Directorate (D.A.E.E.), are investigating the causes of the fires.

For tomorrow, Friday, the risk of fire remains high in many areas of the country.
