A special event with hot air balloons organizes the Municipality of Limni Plastira in the context of events marking the 80th anniversary of the total destruction of the villages of Lake Plastira by the Italian and German invaders in 1943.

Today, Sunday, September 3 at 7 pm at Plaz Pezoulaswith two balloons the largest Greek flag in the world will be raised with an area of ​​1,500 square meters.

For the first time the flag was raised in 2021 at the events celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of the Municipality of Plastira Lake.

This year the raising of the flag iaccompanied by the internationally known saxophonist Mr. Dimitris Vasilakis, with selected music for saxophone, corresponding to the philosophy of the event.

The event is implemented by the Hellenic Aeronautical Club in collaboration with the OLYMPIC BALLOONS Aviation Company, in collaboration with the Municipality of Plastira Lake and is open to the public.

After the take-off of the balloons around 7.30 pm, a concert by the band Gypsies On Paradise, (GOP) will be given in the outdoor theater of Pezoula, with a two-hour program of pop funk jazz blues music. The band consists of young musicians from Karditsio, Andronikos Troukis, Ilias Palapela and Giorgos Giotakos, with Elena Tsigara singing.

On the occasion of the historical facts, the aim of the event is the production of audio-visual material for the promotion of Lake Plastira as a mountain tourist destination, with unique possibilities such as e.g. hot air balloon flights.

For that reason there will be aerial tours with hot air balloons over the Plastira Lake area on Sunday and Monday, September 4 in the morning.
