The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, referred to the protection of the Acropolis monument and the upgrading of the visitor’s experience, on the occasion of today’s launch of the program of hourly visitor zones, in her televised interview.

Now, the daily number of visitors cannot exceed 20,000, distributed in a certain number per one hour zone.

Speaking to Alpha, the minister said the measure was taken after a study, in order to avoid an excessive number of parallel visits, especially in the morning hours, when a lot of congestion has been observed.

So, from today, the so-called “traffic zones” will be implemented, in which a certain number of groups and individual visitors will be allowed per hour.

The working hours from 08:00 to 20:00, which apply today, have been divided into 12 hourly traffic zones.

“Belts are for everyone. They concern groups, they concern the cruise, they concern individual guests,” said L. Mendoni.

. “Each zone has a certain number of visitors. For example, the 08:00-09:00 AM zone has 3,000 people. 3,000+1 guests cannot enter. This results in visitors having a greater opportunity to properly tour and enjoy this major monument”, emphasized the minister,
