Strong phenomena in the next few hours – Where will the bad weather hit?
The cold lake is expected to cause heavy rains and storms in a large part of the country in the upper atmosphere combined with the intense transport of water vapor from the Aegean to the mainland from today and for the next few daysaccording to the National Observatory of Athens/Meteo.gr.
According to the latest available forecast data, the rains and storms, mainly in the central and southern parts, will have intensity, but also durationwith the result that the very high heights of rain in the aforementioned areas are capable of generating in places flood phenomena.
The areas that will receive the very high levels of rain are Thessaly (Magnesia, Trikala, Karditsa, eastern parts of N. Larissa), the Sporades, Pieria, eastern Sterea (Fthiotida, Boeotia), the eastern Peloponnese (western Corinth, Argolis, eastern Arcadia) and the southwestern Peloponnese (Messenia).

For example, from the processing of the predictive data it is calculated that more than 500 mm of rain is expected in the area of Fthotis and Magnesia (Pelion). Remember that 1 mm of rain corresponds to one liter of water on a surface of one square meter (or one ton on one acre).
Furthermore, strong and locally almost gale-force winds are expected (6-7 Beaufort)significant drop in temperature and continuation of storms on Thursday as well, with gradual improvement from evening hours.
According to the classification of the precipitation episode (RPI), which is applied by the Meteo unit of the National Observatory of Athens, the precipitation episode remains in Category 5 (Extreme).
