The representative of the Fire Department warned that the next cities that will face a problem from the bad weather are Karditsa and Trikala
Unprecedented are the devastation caused by the bad weather Daniel in Magnesia and specifically in Volos – where there is one dead and one missing – and Pelion.
Speaking to SKAI, the representative of the Fire Department, Yiannis Artophios, said that the big problem is the prolonged rain that persists in Magnesia, while he warned that the next cities that will face a problem from the bad weather are Karditsa and Trikala.
“People should not even think of leaving their homes, the asphalt may have been eaten, we even saw buses being swallowed by the asphalt. It is dangerous for people to listen to the instructions of the authorities. We can meet in a higher place – for example in the hotel, if they go to a higher floor, they are not in danger. Those who are outside, near streams, are at risk.
“We don’t know what’s under the water,” he stressed.
He added that only emergency vehicles should be driven, while at least they have been 500 calls for flooded houses and shops in the area of Volos and Pelion.
Fifteen people were freed from vehicles. Skiathos is also facing problems now, added Mr. Artopoios. Wherever there is danger, we rush, assessing the events – we rescued six people from the ground floor in the Potistika area.
“The weather conditions are extreme. Unfortunately we had a loss and we also have a person we are looking for. Tomorrow we will have a problem in Karditsa and Trikalathe citizens should listen to the instructions of the Authorities” he said.
