“We’re trying to hold on”

This is the first conversation of Mr. Nikos Argyris, who is trapped in the flooded, after the disastrous passage of bad weather Daniel, Kalyvia Trikala.

Speaking to SKAI, he describes how about ten people have remained on the roof of the house waiting for help.

In the village, which is surrounded by rivers, the situation is more than tragic.

There is no water supply and water so boats cross the flooded areas to give first aid items such as bottles of water to the citizens.

He describes how the water level in some places exceeds three meters, while the lowest height it may have reached in some places is 1.5 meters.

“Everything has been destroyed, there is nothing, it will now be a matter of survival,” he comments.

The situation is equally dramatic in the village of Marathea Karditsa.

Ms. Valentini, a resident of the village, reports to SKAI that there is a need for food.

“A kidney patient barely made it to the helicopter,” he describes, emphasizing that there are people who belong to vulnerable groups and must be removed immediately.

He estimates that around 250 people are trapped in the area.

“Send as many boats as you can,” he stresses.

Spyros Stathis, a resident of Koskina Karditsa, speaks of a tragic and hopeless situation.

“Here and three days in here, in a two-story 50 people”, he emphasizes to SKAI.

“We drowned and unfortunately we will mourn victims”, he emphasizes.

“A boat came a while ago and gave us water”, he adds and explains that there must be about 300 people in the village.

“Courage and patience have run out,” he sums up.

Dozens of our stranded fellow citizens are called to fight a titanic battle for salvation after the devastating passage of bad weather Daniel.
