All the helicopters of the 1st Army Aviation Brigade in Stefanovikio have been safely transferred to a dry runway, notes the GES
“The Army General Staff announces that all the Helicopters (E/P) stationed at the headquarters of the 1st Army Aviation Brigade (1st CLASS) at the Stefanoviki Volos Airport (A/D) have been safely transferred to a dry runway within the A/D, in accordance with the existing, applicable and standing procedures regarding security of material and facilities”, notes the representative of the Army General Staff in a statement regarding the photos from the Airport in Stefanovikio of Volos where the 1st Brigade of the Army Aviation is based and show Huey helicopters (UH-1H Iroquois) in the waters from the floods that hit Magnesia.
Colonel (TTH) Georgios Kolonias adds that “initially, according to the applicable protocols, all functional, in use and operational E/P were transferred. Subsequently, the E/Ps (UH-1H) that have been classified as inactive due to age (60 years) and retired from active service since years were moved. These are depicted in photographs that have seen the light of day.”
“The Stefanoviki airport remains operational. All I/Os within it are safe. It goes without saying that there is a readiness for replacement at other bases in the region or elsewhere, in accordance with the current standing procedures (protocols), if the dynamic situation of the phenomenon requires it”, he adds.
