Further concern at flood-prone areas of Thessaly caused by reports of looting by strangers at properties. Typical are the complaints of citizens in Volos, a large part of which is still covered with mud and portable materials. However, the same situation prevails in other villages of Thessaly.

Residents are desperate as they are on the one hand trying to save themselves and on the other fearing that they will find their homes looted. There are dozens of complaints from citizens about astute people trying to steal machines, tools, for breaking into car locks, etc. The inhabitants see with pain all the labors of a lifetime wasted in an instant. The water nightmare has destroyed everything in its path and the Thessalian plain has turned into a vast lake due to the huge amount of water that fell from the heavy downpours.

At the same time, a new danger concerns the residents of Thessaly. It concerns the risk of infections for those who live or do business these days in the flooded areas. All water in those areas is now potentially contaminated, scientists warn. Authorities advise residents not to drink or wash with the specific waters. Health officials warn of the increased risk of leptospirosis and hepatitis, mainly due to the rodents and dead animals present in the waters.
