The dramatic – and certainly traumatic – she experienced in the early hours of Saturday is described in Cretalive, by a girl who escaped from the hands of the would-be rapist, who apparently went to the center of Heraklion on Friday night looking for a victim…
As the girl tells Cretalive, the time was 02.40, early Saturday 09.09.2023 and she was walking on Vikela Street, in the center of Heraklion, in the narrow streets in the area of Lakkos.
A man 1.60-1.65 tall, aged about 50-55, followed her and then attacked her. According to what she describes, he was thin, with thin, white and close-cropped hair and was wearing a khaki shirt and Bermuda shorts.
While the girl was walking back home, the stranger attacked her, stuck her to the wall of an abandoned house and tried to immobilize her in order to rape her. The girl started shouting and fighting and finally it was her strong resistance that seems to have prevented the attacker, who left her and ran away towards the center.
The girl who escaped from the hands of the would-be rapist reports that at about the same time (with a difference of about 20 minutes) a similar incident took place in another place in Heraklion.
As Cretalive wrote earlier, arrests are probably being made, as one of the complainants was summoned again to the Heraklion Police Station, for an additional statement and identification procedure.
