New meeting on how to deal with the consequences caused to the primary production of Thessaly by the “Daniel” phenomenonwill take place on Sunday morning at the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, under the chairmanship of the competent minister, Lefteris Avgenakis.

In addition to the deputy ministers Dionysis Stamenitis and Stavros Keletsis, the general secretaries of the FSA, Giorgos Stratakos, Kostas Baginetas and Dimitris Papagiannidis, the president of ELGA Andreas Lykourentzos, the advisor of the FSA, professor Christos Avgoulas and official agents will participate in the meeting.

On Monday the Minister of Rural Development and Food, he will accompany the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis on his visit to Evros and in the following days he will visit the affected areas in Thessaly.

The first topic of the meeting will be the collection, burial or burning of dead animals, in order to prevent diseases. By order of Mr. Avgenakis, the procedures and the burial or cremation are accelerated, in licensed places, as they will be able to be done without the presence of ELGA.

Already in the area of Thessaly there are 11 containers of refrigerators while there is a discussion to bring a mobile incinerator to the area. Bypassing certain formal procedures is deemed necessary due to the prevailing situation, in order to speed up the procedures for collecting the dead animals.

A second issue is the process of demarcating the affected areas and then compiling a digital file of beneficiaries. The declarations to ELGA’s correspondents are expected to be submitted from September 15 to 30, while the advances are estimated to be given around October 15.

To speed up the procedures o Lefteris Avgenakis and the president of ELGA have requested the assistance of GEOTEE for the recruitment of 100 geotechnicians so that assessments can be made in the shortest possible time.

It is recalled that according to an announcement by OPEKEPE, the submission of IASD declarations was extended beyond the deadline of September 11, without the imposition of a delay penalty. The extension strictly concerns the Region of Thessaly, the Regional Unit of Evros and the Regional Unit of Fthiotida.

For the rest of the country, the deadline is 11/09/2023.
