In the wider area of Karditsa, the operations concern the transport of citizens, although there is no risk to their physical integrity, as Mr. Artopioos pointed out, while he added that many citizens remain there of their own free will.
At the same time, he noted that they are constantly provided with food, water, medical equipment and bedding.
The statements of the representative of the fire department are detailed below:
“Good evening from the operations center of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection from Thessaly.
To date, since September 5, we have officially recorded 9,200 incidents and have carried out 4,500 rescues of our fellow citizens by ground and air forces. This is the largest intervention of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection in continuous cooperation with the Greek Police, the Coast Guard, the EKAV and the local government of the first and second degree. Indicative of this is that all 8 EMAKs participate in the operations. Volunteers and volunteer rescue teams from all over Greece are assisting with personnel and equipment.
In the wider area of Karditsa, the businesses concern the transport of our fellow citizens. Although there is no danger to their physical integrity. Many do not stay there voluntarily. With aerial means helicopters and drones as well as lifeboats they are provided with food, water, medical equipment and bedding.
In the area of Larissa and in districts such as Giannouli, Agios Thomas, Nea Smyrni and Hippokratis, 130 movements of our fellow citizens have been carried out since the morning. Although the weather phenomena have subsided in the last 48 hours, there is an overflow of the Pinios river at its eastern estuary towards areas near Lake Karla and on the north-eastern side towards Amphithea.
The level of the Pinios River remains at the same levels and the operational data is evaluated both by ESKEDIK and the Mobile Operations Center OLYMPOS which is located inside the 1st Army camp in Larissa.
Citizens in flood-prone areas should be alert and follow the instructions of the authorities.
Ladies and gentlemen we are all staying in the field of business for as long as necessary.
For any development there will be a newer update
Thank you “
