The body of the 42-year-old father who was swept away by a stream in the Volos area belongs to the body that was found at noon by a sailing boat operator in the sea area of Mikra Trikeri, in the Pagasitikos Gulf.

The body was collected by the Coast Guard and taken to the Volos Hospital, where the relatives of the unfortunate 42-year-old were called and identified him.

It is recalled that Stamatis Karamanolas was swept into the stream of Agia Aikaterini on Tuesday morning, when the heavy downpour broke out and disappeared in front of the eyes of his 17-year-old son, who managed to save himself. The 42-year-old was the first to be reported missing after the outbreak of the disease.

Another three bodies had been located and identified since the morning

The bodies of two other missing persons were found earlier on Sunday in the “sunken” Metamorfosi of Karditsa, thus raising the black list with the number of dead from the floods to 14.

A 58-year-old missing man from Agios Dimitrios Karditsas was also found dead a few hours earlier.

The bodies belong to an elderly 85-year-old woman and her 65-year-old son, who were reported missing in Metamorfosi on September 9 and were found dead today in their home by a Coast Guard team.

Now 3 people remain missing and anxiety about their fate grows, as many villages remain flooded and difficult to access.

1. From 5-09-2023, a 42-year-old in Agia Aikaterini Volos
2. From 7-09-2023 two Austrians (probably a couple, age unknown) at Pelion Irrigation
