Shocked are the residents on Komninon Street in Kalamaria after the crime that occurred on Tuesday morning. A police officer allegedly took his children to school and then returned home shortly after 8:00, shot and killed his ex-wife with a rifle. He then ended his life.

Police officer and resident of the area, who knew the 38-year-old self-made and alleged killer of his wife, speaking to reporters explained that he had not heard if there were any differences between the couple. “They were separated, I knew the man who killed himself. I hadn’t heard if they had any differences or any fights. It’s like I knew him, he’s a colleague too. Pity for the children they will leave behind,” said the policeman.

The children, as reported by local residents, are at school and have not been informed about the family drama.

“I hope the children get psychological support so they can cope with hearing the tragic news and then be able to get back on their feet. The children are at school and they don’t know anything. For this reason, I would say that it should be given special weight. I imagine that psychologists have already been called, mainly at the school, because that is probably where their first briefing will take place. We are all devastated. We pass by here every day and I think I may have seen the couple as well as the children. We don’t know if there were fights between them,” said the resident of the area, Maria Kazambaka.

It should be noted that a team of the Crimes Against Life Department of the Thessaloniki Directorate went to the scene, in order to ascertain the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
