“Clean water for everyone at the most competitive cost, for the benefit of consumers”, is the policy of the EYDAP administration, as declared by both the company’s new president, Giorgos Stergiou, and the managing director, Charalambos Sahinis.

During the meeting of the competent parliamentary committee, which approved their appointment by a majority, Mr. Sahinis informed that Greece – as demonstrated by a YALE University environmental impact study – in terms of water quality, is with other countries, in first place among 180 countries. THE EYDAP and, globally, it is the company that provides cities with the second cheapest price for water.

The new managing director of EYDAP, responding to questions from members of parliament, regarding the current situation of water supply in the flood-affected city of Volos, informed the Committee that EYDAP has already helped to restore the water supply by providing expertise and thus within the next 15 days a water purification unit will operate there to make the water drinkable again.

Besides, Mr. Sahinis referred to the need to renew the company’s staff, given that the average age of the employees is 56 years and he emphasized that he will seek to renew it, through a flexible ASEP”. He also underlined the need to renew of the aging facilities of EYDAP that have an average construction of 60 years.

In favor of the candidacy of Mr. Stergiou and Sahini in the positions of the president and the managing director respectively, the MPs of the government majority voted, SYRIZA was placed with the “present” and all the other parties voted against.
