The Municipality of Penteli will bear the costs for those cases, where residents of the area took the initiative to raise money and charter snowplows themselves, in order to open the roads to their homes sooner. This was clarified in APE-MPE by the mayor Dimitra Kehagia.
“I do not know to what extent this has happened, but surely anyone who has paid a private individual will be compensated,” he said, adding: “It is natural that we could not enter the snowplows everywhere at the same time. In some areas there would be delays. In no case do we want to burden any citizen. We will see this issue from Monday and there will be compensation “.
Regarding the current situation of the Municipality of Penteli, Ms. Kehagia told us: “We have opened all the main roads. From there, we work on the smaller streets and they end, as in Nea Penteli. “There are branches and trees that need to be removed, there are places with impassable roads, where snowplows are difficult to get in, but the amount of snow is so large that it creates an additional problem with its removal.”
In the end, the mayor of Pentelis adds: “I want to thank the mayor of Athens Mr. Bakoyannis, for the help he gave to the municipality with the machines he sent, but also the mayor of Ilio Nikos Zeneto, the region and all those who helped with her assistance . And a big thank you to the employees of the municipality, who these days gave their souls, but also to the volunteers, who helped so much during these difficult days in moving patients for their treatment, for dialysis and so on “.
