Flood victims struggle to remove useless items destroyed by water and mud – Water problem remains serious – Humanitarian aid continues
With the first light of day the inhabitants of the affected areas of of Trikala and Karditsa Regional Units from bad weather daniel, who managed to enter their homes and businesses, after counting their wounds at the same time they begin a great struggle to remove the useless objects that the water and mud destroyed, order everyday life to return to normal conditions.
The problems in villages and settlements that remain unsolved are mainly related to suitability of water to meet basic human needs, the removal of dead animals to a safe place, so that they do not pose a risk to public health, and concern for the next day. Most, it is difficult to survive for a family that lost its livestock in the water and the crops are not going to have production this year and of course income.
There are many who, as pointed out in Athenian-Macedonian News Agencyfound in the Municipality of Palamas, they are thinking very seriously about immigrating to foreign countries the next period of time. Also, many expressed strong concerns about looting of businesses or homes.
In the meantime, humanitarian aid continues from other regions of the country to the affected. One of them is an act of humanitarian solidarity from Makrohori, Imathia Prefecture. A group of volunteers from the village accompanied the mission that started from Makrochori and headed for the Municipality of Pyli and carried a large amount of bottled water, bedding, clothing, food and stationery. They handed them over to the courtyard of Pyli’s town hall, in the presence of the mayor, Kostas Maravas. in order to be distributed to the flood victims of the Municipality of Pili for their relief. The Municipality of Pyli also, after communication and in cooperation with the Trikala Regional Unit, informs that mosquito sprays have been carried out in the affected areas in recent months to prevent disease transmission.
Specific items for citizens who have need is collected by the Municipality of Trikkaia. It’s about:
1. Foods with a long shelf life: Spaghetti, barley, rice, beans, lentils.
2. Oil.
3. Bed linen (in excellent condition).
4. Sleeping bags.
5. Underwear (new).
6. Socks (new).
7. Cleaning products: Brooms, mops, disposable gloves, buckets.
The items are delivered to the warehouses of the Municipality of Trikkaia in front of OSE (Agiou Bessarionos 8), on working days, from 08:30 to 14:00.
The Municipality of Trikkaia warmly thanks the citizens from Trikala and other prefectures who rush to contribute and relieve the affected.
