Young people who turned 18 or 19 from 1.1.2022 to 31.12.2022 can apply for this year’s aid.
On Thursday, November 9, the platform for submitting applications for the Youth Pass opens with the aim of financial support of 150 euros to approximately 200,000 young people aged 18 and 19.
The Youth Pass is in the form of a digital debit card which beneficiaries will be able to use in businesses operating in the fields of culture, tourism and transport. These are defined by the Joint Ministerial Decision signed by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, the Minister of Interior Niki Kerameos, the Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Thanos Petralias.
Beneficiaries of the Youth Pass are:
* tax residents of Greece,
* who have turned 18 or 19 within the year preceding the application and
* apply to the platform.
It is emphasized that there are no property or income criteria.
So for this year’s aid, they can apply, young people who turned either 18 or 19 from 1.1.2022 to 31.12.2022. The application is submitted once and is not resubmitted after the beneficiary turns 19. Therefore, an 18-year-old who applies for the Youth Pass this year will receive €150 this year and an additional €150 in 2024 without having to apply again. However, if for any reason, a young person does not apply when they are 18, they can do so when they turn 19, of course receiving the aid only for the second year and not retrospectively.
Young people will be able to submit their applications either through the digital platform vouchers.gov.gr or through K.E.P. from Friday 9 November to Tuesday 5 December, while the aid will have been paid by Sunday 10 December 2023.
It is emphasized that the Youth Pass is a permanent measure to support young people. Therefore, from 2024 onwards the special application will accept the applications of the interested parties from April 1st to May 15th of each year. The aid for all beneficiaries will be paid once a year by May 31 of each year.
Credit process
After submitting the application, the credit institution or financial organization informs the beneficiary about the first activation of the card and the crediting of the amount of money via text message (sms) or e-mail with an embedded link to activate the digital debit card.
Beneficiaries can then use the support they will receive to make purchases or receive services from businesses active in the fields of tourism (e.g. in tourist accommodation), culture (e.g. to attend theater performances or concerts, for the purchase of books, etc.) and transportation (taxi, buses, trains, ferry – plane tickets or for the rental of cars or pleasure boats, etc.).
