The works are on schedule, stated the Minister of Citizen Protection
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Yiannis Oikonomou, had a meeting on Tuesday (19/9) with officers of the Greek Police and executives of the companies that are building the extension of the fence, in Evros.
According to the information given to the minister, in the last days of October – after the earthworks have been completed and if it is allowed based on the condition of the ground – the machines and crews are expected to start the execution of the works.
Mr. Economou emphasized in his statement: “The fence and its extension are a priority for the Greek government, which implements a strict, but absolutely fair immigration policy. In the meeting with Greek Police officers, as well as with executives of the construction companies, I received the information that the construction is proceeding according to the schedule that has been set. The fence is an important tool that contributes significantly to the guarding of our borders and the effort to deal with illegal immigration and smuggling networks.”
Finally, as noted in the relevant announcement of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the meetings will continue at regular intervals for the progress of the work.
