“The compensation of those affected is proceeding at a rapid pace” said the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Athanasios Petralias, supporting in the Plenary the provision of the amendment concerning the supplementary Budget that has been submitted to the bill of the Ministry of Labour.

Regarding the supplementary budget, the deputy minister said that it amounts to 600 million euros, of which 450 million euros are for the public investment program and 150 million euros in the regular budget to cover the first compensations, state aid and agricultural compensations for natural disasters.
The deputy minister noted that the total cost of the compensations is over 1 billion euros and will burden the budgets of the following years, as the buildings that suffered damage will be repaired and will be compensated by the State Aid.
Mr. Petralias clarified that “ta these funds are additional required for infrastructure restoration projects that will be financed mainly by co-financed tools, such as the NSRF and the Recovery Fund».
