The investigation into the death of the 16-year-old Roma who was shot dead by a 35-year-old police officer of the DIAS group, last December, during a pursuit, in western Thessaloniki, has been completed.

Nine months after the bloody incident, the regular investigator of Thessaloniki, who handled the case, completed the investigation and the file was forwarded to a prosecutor, in order to follow his proposal to the competent Council of Misdemeanors, which will decide – with a will – on the referral to trial.

In addition to the 35-year-old’s apology, the statements of his colleagues and eyewitnesses, the footage from security cameras, the forensic and forensic findings, the case file includes the findings of two independent experts appointed by the investigator.

Through their expertise, the two engineers were asked to answer questions raised by the judges of the Misdemeanor Council, when they were asked to resolve the dispute between an investigator and a prosecutor regarding the pre-trial detention or not of the 35-year-old defendant after his plea ( he was eventually released on parole).

These questions related to the last seconds of the pursuit and were connected on the one hand to the course followed by the minor’s farm car and his reactions, and on the other hand to the point from where the police officer fired with his service weapon (one shot successively hit the vehicle and the victim’s head and another “stuck” in the entrance of an adjacent hotel).

The 35-year-old is accused of manslaughter with possible intent, while after his involvement in the case he was suspended.

The pursuit began when police officers were informed that the 16-year-old had filled up fuel at a gas station without paying the 20 euro price.
