Preliminary investigation of incidents is carried out by the Port Authority of Samos.
A total of 129 migrants were located and rescued by the Coast Guard in the last hours in Samos in four different incidents.
Specifically, in the first case, in the early hours of the morning today, Patrol boat L.S.-EL.AKT. spotted in the sea area north of “Agios Konstantinos” Samos, a stationary boat, with a sufficient number of passengers.
The above patrol boat picked up forty one foreigners (22 men, 10 women, 5 girls and 4 boys), all in good health and transported them safely to the port of Malagario, Samos. They were then handed over to officers of the Police Directorate and transferred to the Closed Controlled Facility of Samos. The boat in which the above foreigners were on board was destroyed.
In the second case, in the morning hours today, the patrol vessel LS-EL.AKT., following information from the LS-EL.AKT. Helicopter, spotted a stationary boat in the sea area north of “Agios Konstantinou” Samos, with a sufficient number of passengers.
The above Patrol vessel picked up thirty foreigners (18 men, 6 women, 4 boys and 2 girls), all in good health and transported them safely to the port of Malagario, Samos. They were then handed over to officers of the Police Directorate and transferred to the Closed Controlled Facility of Samos. The boat in which the above foreigners were on board was destroyed.
In the third case, in the morning hours today, Open Sea Ship (PATH) LS-EL.AKT., was informed of the existence of a boat, with a sufficient number of passengers, within Turkish territorial waters. Despite the presence of a Turkish offshore vessel at the scene, the entry of the boat was not prevented, as a result of which it entered Greek territorial waters, in the sea area north of “Kokkari”, Samos lemvo.
Then, Patrol vessel L.S.-EL.AKT. approached the boat and proceeded to collect thirty-five (35) foreigners (21 men, 4 women, 8 boys and 2 girls), all in good health, where he transported them safely to the port of Malagario, Samos. Subsequently, they were handed over to officers of the Police Directorate and transferred to the Closed Controlled Facility of Samos. The boat in which the above foreigners were on board was destroyed.
Finally, in the fourth case, in the early hours today, Patrol boat L.S.-EL.AKT. spotted in the sea area north of “Agios Konstantinos” Samos, a stationary boat, with a sufficient number of passengers.
The above patrol boat picked up twenty-three foreigners (18 men, 3 women, 1 girl and 1 boy), all in good health and transported them safely to the port of Malagario, Samos. They were then handed over to officers of the Police Directorate and transferred to the Closed Controlled Facility of Samos. The boat in which the above foreigners were on board was destroyed.
A preliminary investigation for all the aforementioned incidents is carried out by the Port Authority of Samos.
