Operated for 10 years without permission from the ministry – Falsely announced the implementation of programs in collaboration with a university without a contract
A 58-year-old woman is behind him educational institution – fraud in Kavalawhich has been operating since September 2013.
From the supposed educational institutionwere falsely announcing the implementation of programs in the context of cooperation with a university without a relevant contract, while also granting relevant certificates of attendance of these programs without the permission of the Ministry of Education.
Preliminary examination were carried out following a relevant prosecutor’s order by police officers of the Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Property Rights and Cultural Heritage and Environment of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki, in order to investigate crimes committed by an Association based in Kavala.
As part of the investigation, they filed a case against a 58-year-old citizen for fraud and violations of the Laws concerning free study workshops and the establishment and operation of colleges.
In particular, in September 2013 with alleged headquarters in Kavala an Association was founded which is characterized as an educational organization with the aim of training its members in various fields, with financial consideration.
For the registration and attendance of the courses, the members paid an annual sum of at least 120 euros compared to the 15 euros required by the statute.
In order to attract citizens, they illegally used educational terms to create the image of an upgraded institution. Furthermore, they falsely announced the implementation of programs in the context of cooperation with a university without a relevant contract, while they also granted relevant certificates of attendance of these programs without the permission of the Ministry of Education.
The collected pre-investigative material against the 58-year-old who had the status of treasurer and had taken over the financial management of the association, while at the events she appeared as the head and organizer of the educational programs, was submitted to the competent Prosecutor, who exercised criminal prosecution.
