The investigation of a cartel with large quantities of hard drugs based in Thessaloniki, the Greek Police succeeded, after a large police operation to arrest the members of the criminal organization.
Police forces seized more than 585 kg of cocaine in Thessaloniki and arrested five people, which were the members of the criminal organization. It is estimated that Albania was the “center” of the business, but Thessaloniki was a “station” for their transfer to Europe.
It is noted that Frthis is one of the largest seizures of drug quantities that have been detected in Greece.
The breakdown of the case was presented to journalists at the building of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, by the director of the Directorate of Security of Thessaloniki, Major General Georgios Papadopoulos.
They are four Albanians, 50, 42, 21 and 33 years old, and a 35-year-old citizen of Albanian origin.or, legally residing in the country, while some of the perpetrators were related to each other.
It is estimated that the “base” of the cartel was a rented house in Agia Triada. The largest quantities of drugs found had the Nazi swastika on the packages! It is estimated that these symbols were placed in Latin America.
The 50-year-old was the mastermind of the organizations and had the role of importing narcotics from Latin American countries into Greece but also through Albania to be channeled to countries of the European Union.
How did they get arrested?
After many months of surveillance of the members of the criminal organization, a strong police force of the Narcotics Prosecution carried out a large police operation and arrested two of the perpetrators in Agia Triada and in New Passengers respectively, driving rental cars. For one of the two, a pursuit was carried out in order to immobilize him. In fact, he did not hesitate to ram a Police vehicle.
The remaining three members of the criminal organization were located and arrested at the house where they were staying.
585 kilograms and 208 grams of cocaine packed in 500 packages were found and confiscated in the vehicles and in the home of the perpetrators. Also found were 7,440 euros in cash, associated with drug trafficking, as well as seven mobile phones used by the perpetrators to communicate.
Finally, a car owned by the brain of the organization, a metal detector and other items were confiscated.
Those arrested, with the case filed against them, will be brought to the Prosecutor of First Instance of Thessaloniki.
