Installation of cameras aimed at managing the traffic problem and combating crime, but also tightening the framework for obtaining a gun license is in the plans of the Ministry of Civil Protection.

According to ministry circles, the recording of points with severe traffic problems and areas where crime is red-hot has already begun.

The cameras that will be placed at these points and according to information will be more than 700will be the “eyes” of the Greek police, as a high-ranking official of the ministry described them, as they will be recording 24 hours a day.

However, this plan may take some time to implement as there are legal issues that need to be resolved prior but also an upgrade of the operational center of ELAS.

Regarding the tightening of obtaining a gun license, the ministry makes it clear that the new framework they are considering is very strict and that a database will be created in which information about the weapons that will be given will be recorded.
