The recent advance of the storms Daniel and Elias caused serious damage to the infrastructure of the affected areas of the Regional Units of Karditsa and Trikala, with the result that residents are excluded from the local communities. The Municipality of Mouzaki has used an innovative technological method to support these residents. In particular, as announced by the municipal authority, in collaboration with Civil Protection and the Probotek company that provided its services on a non-profit basis, it organized a large operation to transport food and medicine by drone (unmanned small aircraft) to people who needed them.
The head of the mission was the operator Mr. Vassilis Galanakis from Kanalia. Officials from the Technical Service of the municipality also participated in the whole operation, who recorded damage done to road construction and infrastructure. The data gathered will be used to create study “files”, supporting the claim of necessary funding from competent ministries, for restorations.
At the same time, any available means of public or private use was used to transport and supply food, basic necessities and medicines to the elderly and people with chronic diseases in communities or settlements where landslides and landslides had cut off communication with Mouzaki and other villages. Now the situation, as emphasized, has largely normalized in the municipality, but the damages are too many and large in various places and need to be repaired as soon as possible, in view of the difficult winter that is coming.
The Municipality of Palamas was one of the municipalities that received a big blow from the bad weather Daniel. The mayor of Palamas Giorgos Sakellariou sent a letter to the Minister of Rural Development and Food for immediate measures to support farmers, breeders and also for funding for the restoration of the damaged irrigation infrastructure of the municipality.
Among other measures he proposes is compensation for 100% of agricultural production based on 250 euros and not the ELGA list, direct funding for the replacement of damaged equipment (agricultural machinery, agricultural vehicles, agricultural equipment, drip irrigation, etc.) .), compensation for stored products and warehouses, direct funding for the restoration of all fields from the tons of materials brought in, funding for replacement of the bee hive, hives and production machinery, etc.
