The difficult restoration of the coastal front of Magnesia began on Friday and continues at an intensive pace, by the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection in collaboration with the Ministry of Shipping & Insular Policy and the General Secretariat of Shipping and Ports.

A huge amount of material from the hinterland has ended up on the coastal front of all of Magnesia, which needs to be removed.

The restoration began on Friday 29/9 from the beach of Nea Anchialos, which is “unrecognizable” due to the large concentration of materials.

After the removal of the large volume of materials, a voluntary clean-up will follow, with the participation of the sea scouts, for the collection of microplastics and micro-objects.

Following the emergency funding, the Region of Thessaly, in collaboration with the involved Municipalities and the Coast Guard, will launch so that in the coming days it will start the collection of cars and bulky objects from the coastal front and bottom of the Magnesia areas affected by extreme weather events.

In the next period, a series of extensive beach cleaning actions will be organized in cooperation with volunteer groups and of course the Municipalities, while in cooperation with the Volos Port Organization, the waters under its jurisdiction are being cleaned.
