Lexie Alford (@LexieLimitless), the explorer and travel content creator who is currently the youngest person to have visited every country in the world, had the unique opportunity to be in Greece just 24 hours ago on her epic ‘Charge Around The Globe’ journey in the new all-electric Ford Explorer that started in Nice, France on Friday 8th September.

Drawing inspiration from the pioneering venture of Aloha Wanderwell, the first woman to circumnavigate the world in a Ford vehicle a century ago, Lexie Alford drove the new Ford Explorer through the streets of the Athenian Riviera while also having the unique opportunity to visit the Ford booth hosted at the “Automotive & Electromobility 2023” exhibition where he spoke to the press about the unique challenges of such a journey.

“The biggest challenge of this mission is the fact that we don’t know that it’s possible to go around the world in an EV,” said Lexie Alford. “But our goal is to prove that if I can go around the world, that means you can easily drive an electric vehicle every day.”

Lexie Alford’s unique journey will last around 100 days, with the young explorer behind the wheel of the electric Ford Explorer crossing six continents and visiting almost 30 countries. During this epic undertaking, Lexie is expected to travel more than 28,000 kilometers, demonstrating with this journey both the capabilities and the proverbial endurance and superiority of Ford’s new all-electric crossover model.

The journey of Lexie Alford – the first person to circumnavigate the world in an all-electric car – best expresses the can-do spirit displayed by Aloha Wanderwell, using from 1922 to 1927 Ford models on their own journey around the globe. Now, Lexie’s electric Ford Explorer, which departed with the young explorer behind the wheel from Le Hotel Royal in Nice, France earlier this month, is a pre-production prototype, but it’s not far from that which customers will be able to purchase when it launches in Europe next summer. Without modifications to meet the challenges ahead, it will offer Lexie Alford not only comfort and connectivity, but everything else she will need on the ultimate road trip that began on September 8.

“This is the fourth or fifth time I have visited Greece. It is an incredibly rich country with an amazing history and depth, not only in terms of the influence it has had on the world, but also in the uniqueness of its culture and the hospitality of its people,” said Lexie Alford speaking during her presentation at Ford stand at the “Automotive & Electromobility 2023” exhibition.

“Charge Around The Globe” with the new Ford Explorer

Aloha Wanderwell’s journey may have been the main inspiration for this epic road trip, but Lexie Alford will be forging her own path, dealing not only with inclement weather and unpredictable terrain, but also with a lack of charging infrastructure.
