Within the first quarter of 2027, the renovation project of the FIX industrial complex at the western entrance of Thessaloniki is expected to be completed, as announced tonight by Dimitris Andriopoulos, CEO of the company Dimand, which implements the project, during the event for its presentation. in the presence of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He added that the goal is to have an active construction site “by this time next year,” in the fall of 2024, as the design period and details surrounding the project are estimated to take nine to 12 months. Mr. Andriopoulos reminded that the effort to acquire the property began already in 2019, but “properties with such a history also have an acquisition effort” and referred to how important was the contribution of AADE but also of EFKA and other services, so that between others to repay the debts of the previous owners. “Through this acquisition, the State recovered debts of more than 5 million euros,” he said characteristically.

“HUB 26” ready in June 2024

According to Mr. Andriopoulos, in June 2024 “Hub 26”, the project to create the first bioclimatic business park and office building (investment amount of more than 35 million euros, jointly with Prodea), which Dimand is building opposite the FIX, “through which we expect to bring another 2000 workers to the area”.

It is recalled that the total investment for the reconstruction of FIX is expected to exceed 150 million euros and – in addition to the renovation works of listed buildings of the complex, for which Mr. Andriopoulos said that “when we see them in three years it will be like seeing an old photograph’- is expected to include various other uses. In fact, he added that, in a green space, DIMAND is going to create a viable, sustainable complex of buildings of 50,000 sq.m., of which 17,000 sq.m. will be of the restored preserves.

“If Thessaloniki is envisioned correctly in the development of the area of ​​TIF and the rest that needs to be done, the city has such a history that if it utilizes its past, it can double its economy” emphasized the CEO of Dimand, which has also bought a property of the former Balkan Export industry, in Agios Athanasios, Thessaloniki, where a logistics center of more than 120,000 square meters is planned to be developed.

The assessment that Dimand’s investments in FIX and Hub 26 add enormous dynamics to the urban transformation of an area very important for Thessaloniki was expressed in his greeting by the regional governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, underlining that in the area of ​​23 acres of FIX it is planned to residences, offices and a hotel will be created. He also reminded that Dimand has active investments in the wider area of ​​Thessaloniki amounting to 360 million euros.

The “heart” of Thessaloniki’s future beats in the west, according to the mayor, Konstantinos Zervas, who pointed out that “the city is tired of seeing abandoned carcasses of buildings in the urban fabric”. He also expressed the belief that the investments implemented by Dimand in Thessaloniki are the starting kick, in order for other investments to come, marking the day after the western entrance of the city and giving the occasion for a “total remake”.

Metropolitan Varnavas of Neapoleos and Stavroupoleos referred to the significant contribution of western Thessaloniki to the local GDP, but also to the need to support and develop the region, which has been sidelined for years.
