Online training for 446 officers of the Greek Police in animal protection issues was completed yesterday, Wednesday, on World Animal Day.

The seminar was attended by trainees from the Directorate of General Policing of the Headquarters, the General Police Directorates of Attica and Thessaloniki, the General Regional Police Directorates of the country as well as existing Services, with the method of modern distance teaching in 5 training series.

In this context, trained officers of the Hellenic Police, as well as partners of the “ZERO STRAY ACADEMY” and the Non-Governmental Organization “ZERO STRAY PAWJECT” contributed to the successful completion of the training program, adequately developing the following main thematic sections:

* Animal abuse and the cycle of violence. The treatment of the phenomenon by the Greek Police.

* Methodological issues of conducted controls and the body language of the animals. Actions, statistical recording and synergies with the Municipal Police.

* The Animal Police in foreign countries.

* The legal status of animals in the Greek legal order. Current legislation, interpretive and policing approaches to animal protection.

* Police investigation, prescribed criminal administrative sanctions and animal protection procedures in general.

* Practical application of criminal and administrative cases of active and passive abuse of animals.

* The protection of equines.

* The investigation of the correlation between animal abuse/violence and interpersonal violence. Outline the criminal psychological profile of the animal abuser.

* Assessment of the nutritional status of the animals, first aid, carrying out scanner checks, correct approach to dogs.
