At least a hundred schoolgirls in the city of Kakamega were taken to hospital
A shocking video has been making the rounds of the internet since yesterday, showing schoolgirls in a Kenyan school paralyzed and unable to walk, due to a mysterious illness that struck the girls suddenly.
According to the BBC, at least a hundred female students from Eregi Girls’ High School, in Kakamega city, were taken to hospital when they suddenly developed convulsions, knee pains and paralysis in their legs.
Urine and blood samples have been sent to laboratories in Nairobi and test results showing what the girls were infected with are due later in the week.
Some experts are talking about a case of “mass hysteria” but no one can say for sure what happened at Eregi Girls High School.
A video of the incident is circulating online, but it is not confirmed by official authorities.
