The arrests of minors for 1,201 cases in September are estimated at 1,353 in order to deal with delinquency for the safety of the youth, as reported by ELAS.

The majority of the arrests were registered in Attica and most of them concern violations of the Criminal Code, thefts and causing bodily harm.

The Hellenic Police acts, within the framework of its responsibilities, for the safety of the youth, dealing with the delinquency of minors in Attica and throughout the Territory.

In September, a total of 1,353 minors were arrested for various crimes, while a total of 1,201 cases were filed for the same number of cases. Among other things, from the elements throughout the Greek territory, last month were arrested:

86 for causing bodily harm,
17 for rape or sexual indecency, sexual acts with or in front of minors, pornography of minors,
242 for violations of the C.O.K. and road safety,
28 for breach of arms legislation,
75 for addictive substances,
292 for property crimes (thefts, robberies),
2 for kidnapping minors,
7 for criminal organization, 8 for disloyalty and 4 for violence against officials and judicial persons,
9 for forgery, 4 for arson and
16 for threatening.

The majority of arrests were recorded in Attica, where among others were arrested:

33 for causing bodily harm,
10 for rape or sexual acts with or in front of minors, pornography of minors,
12 for violations of the C.O.K. and road safety,
13 for violation of arms legislation,
19 for addictive substances,
147 for property crimes (thefts, robberies).

The Greek Police and their local Directorates will continue to act within the framework of their responsibilities for the safety of the youth, dealing with due sensitivity to phenomena of juvenile delinquency, an issue that concerns many countries at a pan-European level.
