The spread of the coronavirus in four closed structures of the elderly and the disabled in Achaia is a matter of concern.
It seems that the high transmissibility of “Omicron” and the possible relaxation of the measures opened the door to the coronavirus, as a result of which the elderly and people with chronic diseases and disabilities became ill.
Patra: New cases in the Asylum for the Infirm – 22 positive inmates, ten are being treated
“We are concerned that the virus has spread to very vulnerable areas,” said the governor of the 6th Health District, Giannis Karvelis, and explained: At “Agapis Melathron” in Aigio, 50 rapid tests were performed yesterday and all seven were positive.
In Konstantopoulio, 121 tests were performed and three positive ones were diagnosed, in a structure for the disabled of Aegio, 25 samples were taken and ten were positive. “We are very concerned because they are elderly people with diseases that are difficult to overcome.”
Increased hospitalization of children
As the newspaper “Peloponnisos” pointed out, “Omikron” is bothering children who even arrive at the hospital. From the beginning of December, the pediatric coronavirus beds were not left empty for a single day. Eight children were hospitalized yesterday. The only positive thing, as the professor and director of the Clinic, Gabriel Dimitriou, has pointed out to us, is that they are slightly ill and after a few days of hospitalization they are discharged.
