The 65-year-old man, who was arrested following a complaint that he committed sexual acts against his 8-year-old nephew, was sentenced to pre-trial detention after his confession to the 1st regular investigator of Thessaloniki.

Criminal charges were brought against him for abuse of a minor and sexual indecency, as well as for illegal possession of ammunition, because 20 cartridges were found in his house, for which he did not have a license.

In his apology, the 65-year-old denied the charge of abuse (felony), disagreeing with the legal characterization of the act he committed. According to information, he said that he was playing with the minor and at some point “tickled” him. It was a “misunderstanding” he allegedly said before an investigator and prosecutor, a claim that was not accepted by the prosecutor and investigator, who unanimously decided on his temporary detention.

According to the case file, the alleged acts – touching private parts – happened last Sunday in the defendant’s apartment in Ampelokipi. According to the case file, the 8-year-old lives with his parents in a neighboring apartment, and as they were away, they entrusted the supervision of their son to their 65-year-old uncle for a while (due to stress).

Regarding his referral to trial, the competent Judicial Council will decide in the next period – and after the end of the main interrogation.
