The Spanish José D. Riquelme was named the overall winner of the 2023 competition Epson International Pano Awards due to a series of impressive panoramic photos. His photo with caption “The Bridge” also came top in class Open Nature/Landscape for her breathtaking view of the Icelandic landscape.

After over 12 visits to Iceland exploring its magical places, during a rest stop I decided to change my perspective and take off my drone“, Riquelme recounted. “To my surprise, I captured this incredible image. From above, lines form a bridge that spans from left to right, while on the ground abstract shapes emerge from the river water flowing from the glacier».

In this year’s competition, 4,414 photos were submitted by photographers from 102 countries. Prizes included cash as well as equipment from competition sponsor EPSON Australia. Merche Llobera, also from Spain, was named Amateur Photographer of the Year thanks to a strong collection of underwater photography. Special awards were given to first place winners in aerial panoramic photography or smartphone panoramic photography.

In addition, the curator of the exhibition, David Evans, gave a special award to the Pole Krzysztof Browko for his incredible photo of a church in Slovenia poking out of the fog.
