Unfortunately, last night, one of the targets of the merciless bombing was the historic Holy Monastery of Agios Porphyrios in the long-suffering Gaza, where it resulted in the death of at least 18 innocent victims and the wounding of many others from the hundreds of Christian Orthodox residents of the area, the who have taken refuge and reside in this facility.
The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece expresses once again its fraternal support and love for His Beatitude Patriarch of Jerusalem Mr. Theophilos III, His Eminence Archbishop of Tiberiopolis Mr. Alexios and the Holy Sepulchre Brotherhood, who continue unflinchingly in the midst of the terrible hostilities that have resulted in the loss of life and the injury of thousands of civilians, to perform their sacred duty, which is none other than the ministry of their flock, providing it with spiritual and material assistance, as well as shelter.
He also wishes and prays to the almighty God that prudence prevails on the warring sides and that hostilities and bloodshed stop as quickly as possible.
