The 69-year-old man, who was arrested and charged with the murder of his 42-year-old daughter, who he allegedly strangled in the apartment where she lived, in Sykies, Thessaloniki, tried to end his life with a speargun.

The 69-year-old is being treated under guard at Hippocrates Hospital with a wound in the abdomen, while as soon as the conditions allow, he will testify to the police, as part of the preliminary investigation.

The family tragedy was revealed yesterday afternoon when her 42-year-old brother went to visit her and found her dead. Examining the body macroscopically, the medical examiner found findings that point to death by suffocation.

According to testimonies, the woman suffered from multiple sclerosis.

Looking for her parents, the police arrived at an apartment in Toumba where the 69-year-old father lives.

The man was found injured, possibly trying to kill himself, while the speargun was found next to him.

So far, the motive for his alleged act has not been made known. However, the version that it is connected to the health problems that the victim was facing is being considered.
