Emotion and Thracian traditional songs at the funeral of the leading teacher and performer
Under the sounds of the traditional Thracian music that served him all his life and in an atmosphere of great emotion, the funeral of Chronis Aidonidis, the leading teacher and performer, who passed away on October 23, at the age of 95, was held.
The exodus ceremony took place on the morning of October 25 at the Holy Church of the Ascension of Vrilissi, Attica.
The last “farewell” to Chronis Aidonidis, who dedicated himself to teaching, saving, spreading and recording the musical tradition of Thrace, was said by his own people, many Thracians and ordinary people, as well as artists, such as Giorgos Dalaras and Pantelis Thalassinos, with whom he had collaborated.
People in traditional costumes, musicians, singers and others, accompanied the great Chronis Aidonidis to his last residence with songs of his special homeland, Thrace, which he loved so much, such as “The birds laughed at me”, applause and the word “immortal ».
Wreaths were laid by, among others, the Artistic Association of Municipal Music Domnas Samiou (“Good trip”), George and Anna Dalara (“To our beloved Chroni”), the mayor of Vrilissi Konstantinos Vafiadis, the Union of Singers of Greece (“Good trip teacher”), the Panthraki Federation and Lakis Chalkias, with the moving message “To the sweet nightingale”.
