The 54-year-old oil painter who was seriously injured yesterday in Atsaleni during work is fighting for his life when “struck” by electricity and fell from a great height.

According to information from cretapost, late last night a big one was set up air freight for the 54-year-old who was safely transported to the Thriasio hospital in Athens where he is being treated.

His transfer was deemed appropriate by the doctors and administrators as there was not a single empty ICU bed in all of Crete.

In fact, on this specific issue, both the president of the Labor Center of Heraklion, Stelios Vorias, and the president of the PAGNI Workers’ Union, D. Vrysalis, were critical, saying that it is not possible in a region like that of Crete to not have an empty ICU bed, directly asking the political leadership of the Ministry of Health but also the government immediate solutions.

His health condition is critical

The health condition of the 54-year-old is particularly critical. From the first moment he was intubated as, in addition to the burns he suffered from the electric shock, he also suffered serious head injuries from his fall.

Doctors are doing their best while the 54-year-old is currently in a stable, serious condition.

The chronicle of the industrial accident

Everything happened yesterday shortly after 11 am when the 54-year-old was carrying out oil painting work in a house located on Paraskevopoulou Street in Atsaleni.

During the work, unknown how, he leaned on PPC cables and suffered an electric shock as a result of which he lost his balance and fell from a great height.

An EKAV ambulance rushed to the scene immediately and found that the 54-year-old had lost consciousness although he had a pulse and rushed him to the University General Hospital of Heraklion.

The information states that the man has burns and serious head injuries.
