With the “friendly” weather and a festive mood, the traditional student parade took place, with the participation of students from 20 schools of all educational levels, to the sounds of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

According to grtimes.gr, the parade started at 11 a.m. from Pavlou Mela Street and ends at Ionos Dragoumi Street on Tsimiski. A total of 20 schools, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools of Thessaloniki, marched.

The curtain of the parade was opened by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, followed by the flag bearers of the schools.

On the official platform were, among others, the Deputy Minister of the Interior in charge of Macedonia and Thrace, Stathis Konstantinidis, together with his family, the general secretary of the National Democratic Party of Greece, Stavros Kalafatis, the MP of SYRIZA A’ Thessaloniki Katerina Notopoulou, the regional governor of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas together with his children, the deputy regional governor of Thessaloniki Voula Patoulidou, the mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas as well as other party MPs, officers of the Armed Forces and the local government.

After the completion of the student parade, delegations of students will lay wreaths at the monuments of the Heroes, the Busts and the Andriantes.

The three-day festivities are expected to culminate tomorrow, with the military parade on Megalo Alexandrou Avenue.

It is noted that since 10:30 traffic has been prohibited on Tsimiski Street, in its section from X.A.N.Th Square. up to I. Dragoumi Street, to Pavlou Mela Street, in its section from L. Pyrgou Square to Tsimiski Street, but also to all the vertical streets of the specific sections of the above streets.
