Answers for the circumstances under which he was very seriously injured 16 years old during an anti-fascist event in Neo Iraklioon the evening of Saturday October 28, the Prosecutor’s Office of First Instance will search.
By his order, the head of the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, Antonis Eleftherianos, requests an urgent preliminary examination to be carried out in order to investigate the events that preceded, on Saturday night, the spot on Eleftheriou Venizelou Street in Neo Heraklion where the woman was found lying unconscious on the road minor who suffered a serious head injury.
Mr. Eleftherianos, in his order for the initiation of the investigation, requests to establish whether in the case of the injury there is evidence of the commission of the felony offenses of attempted homicide or the infliction of grievous bodily harm. The prosecutor’s order is for the Homicide Department to conduct the investigation under the supervision of a prosecutor who has already taken over the preliminary examination.
Among the things that the Prosecutor’s Office requests to be done as a matter of priority is to receive, as soon as possible, a statement from the 16-year-old girl, who is being treated in an Intensive Care Unit, as well as from her relatives. In addition, it is requested that all the documents of the girl’s medical file be forwarded, while priority is also given to the search and collection of audio-visual material from the disputed points in Neo Heraklion.
It should be noted that for the injury of the 16-year-old, the side of the participants in the anti-fascist event seems to blame the Police, pointing to an OPKE group that was operating in the area. As mentioned in relevant announcements, the police brutally beat the 16-year-old.
On the part of ELAS, a statement has already been issued in which it is emphasized that the OPKE team was subjected to a severe “unprovoked attack” by a group of 50 people with their faces covered. The Police reports that these people “immediately dispersed, without the police using their equipment”. Then, according to ELAS, “when the aforementioned people left, the police noticed a woman wearing black clothes, gloves, a surgical mask and a hood, lying on the ground, while they found that she was injured in the head.” It is even reported that “in their attempt to provide first aid” the police officers were attacked again and more severely by several people, to deal with which “appropriate means” were used.
