In the capture of one 31 years old from Bulgaria, at noon on Saturday, in Thessaloniki, police officers of the Katerina Security Sub-Directorate, for telephone fraud against 67-year-old woman in Katerini.
As it emerged from the police investigation, the aforementioned man, along with his accomplices, had joined a criminal group, with the aim of obtaining illegal financial benefit from defrauding citizens. At noon on November 3, 2023, his accomplices called a woman in Pieria and, under the pretext that her son was hospitalized due to a serious injury and allegedly needed immediate surgery, they asked her for the sum of 50,000 euros.
The patient threw from the balcony of her house the amount of money of 25,000 euros and jewelry worth 5,000 euros, which, as it was established, was taken by the arrested foreigner.
A mobile phone was found and confiscated in his possession.
The police investigation continues both for the identification of his accomplices, and for their possible participation in other similar criminal acts.
