The multinational exercise “Aegean Seal II/2023” was conducted from November 6 to 10 in the wider maritime area of the South Euboean Gulf.
As announced today by GEETHA, it is a LIVEX/INVITEX (Live Exercise/Invitation Exercise) type exercise that is organized and directed by the Fleet Headquarters’ Submarine Disaster Management and aims to train and increase the operational capabilities of the participants in anti-mine operations.

Personnel from the United Arab Emirates and Senegal also participated in the exercise.
The Hellenic Armed Forces participated with two “Aetos” speedboats, a mine clearance team (ΟΕΝ/VSW) and a Command and Control element.
During the exercise, the announcement adds, complex operational scenarios were implemented with an emphasis on Naval Special Operations and specifically on Very Shallow Water (VSW) Minesweeping and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD/Counter) operations.
