A global ranking organized by artificial intelligence chose the 500 best bars in the world, and six of them are Brazilian. The Top 500 Bars uses more than two thousand sources on the internet to reach the establishments on the list, which in 2023 include five addresses in São Paulo.

The first national bar to appear in the ranking is Tan Tan, in position 61, a house in Pinheiros run by Thiago Bañares and Caio Carvalhaes, which has already appeared three times in the 50 Best ranking, one of the main awards in gastronomy and cocktails. In the first half of this year, the bar renewed its drinks menu, including ten original recipes.
The 192nd name on the world list is SubAstor, while the 342nd Bar do Cofre, a unit in the historic center of São Paulo of the same bar. Speakeasy under the command of Italian Fábio La Pietra, Sub, as it is affectionately called, has signature drinks inspired by Brazilian ingredients as its strong point. One of them is the butiá sour (gin, Lillet blanc, butiá, coconut syrup, pasteurized egg white and puxuri, R$46). The houses also receive visits from renowned bartenders from other places in Brazil and around the world. To keep your stomach from feeling empty, the kitchen serves suggestions such as croquettes, pastries and salmon cured in gin and beetroot, served with goat cheese and toast (R$53).
Among them, in position 213, appears Bar dos Arcos, a restaurant in the central region of São Paulo. This year, the jury made up of specialized critics from Sheet awarded the house in the best environment category. Developed by bartender Michelly Rossi, the bar menu located in the basement of Theatro Municipal was reformulated at the beginning of this year. It features 24 signature drinks named after women such as Virginia Woolf, Elza Soares, Rita Lee, Gal Costa and Marielle Franco.
The last address in São Paulo to appear on the list is Guarita, in 486th position. In 2017, the jury of Sheet chose the recently opened bar as the one that prepares the best snacks in the capital. In addition to bolovo (R$9), the house’s flagship product, there are rice balls stuffed with cheese (R$16) and pizzas (R$25 to R$47). Among the drinks, it mixes house drinks with classics and the “authorial barman” (R$ 38), in which you order the drink according to your taste guidelines (strong, mild, citrus, sweet, bitter) and prepare to the surprise.
