The parties recognize the importance of tourism for strengthening the friendship between the peoples of the two countries and for the development of economic relations.
A memorandum of tourism cooperation between Greece and Malta was signed today by the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni with her counterpart, Clayton Bartolo at a special ceremony in Valletta where the 7th Mediterranean Tourism Forum took place.
To achieve the objectives of the memorandum of understanding, a joint action plan was agreed, which includes, among others:
- a) Institutional cooperation
- b) Exchange of information and know-how
- c) Information on tourism investments
- d) Tourist promotion
- e) Vocational tourism education and training
- f) Cooperation within the framework of international organizations related to tourism.
Cultural and religious tourism, marine tourism, food and wine tourism, wedding tourism, as well as film-induced tourism are the main areas of special interest that can be leveraged for synergies and mutual learning.
