A man was arrested for the offenses of forming a criminal organization and fraud, who together with three accomplices tried to extort money from elderly people in Kavala and Drama.
The foreign perpetrator, according to the police, using the pretext of involving a relative in a fatal car accident, tried to deceive five elderly people.
On February 5, an unknown perpetrator telephoned an elderly woman in an area of ​​Drama, claiming that her sister was involved in a fatal car accident and asked her to pay money to compensate the relatives of the alleged victim. During their telephone conversation, two of the accomplices pretended to be the police officer and the elderly woman’s sister, who urged her to pay the money, while the detainee went to her house to collect the money. The intentions of the perpetrators were realized and their act was not completed, while the perpetrator was located and arrested.
As it turned out, the perpetrators, with the same methodology, tried to deceive four more elderly people in areas of Kavala, without success.
In the possession of the perpetrator were confiscated, among other things, a mobile phone and a sum of money. The arrested person will be taken to the prosecutor of the Drama Court of First Instance. Investigations are being carried out by the Drama Security Department in order to investigate the full range of the criminal activity of the spiral.
