It was investigated by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directoratein the context of international police cooperation, a case of child pornography, for which a 25-year-old man was arrested in the area of ​​Viotia.

It was preceded by appropriate use of information from foreign authorities, from the investigation of which it emerged that an internet user, within the Greek territory, has gained access to a website-application and possesses a number of files with material of sexual abuse of minors, suitable for sharing.

The collected data was brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney’s Office and after correspondence with the internet service providers and from the further police preliminary investigation, the data emerged as the defendant’s place of residence.

In searches carried out at his home, with the assistance of police officers from the local Police Department, in the presence of a judicial officer, -2- hard drives, -2- mobile phones, a portable storage card and a USB were found and confiscated.

In fact, from the on-site inspection of the digital evidence, a large amount of material (photos and videos) of sexual abuse of minors, of preschool to adolescent age, was found, which is why the 25-year-old was arrested as part of the self-immolation.

With the case filed against him, he was taken to the competent prosecuting authority and referred to a main investigation, while the seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
