What the German Journalistic Network RND reports in response from Athens
“Greece is developing into a model country in digitization. Thanks to special applications, the mobile phone turns into a digital wallet. In addition, more and more contacts with the public are handled digitally”, notes the German Journalistic Network RND in yesterday’s response from Athens.
The RND observes: “Very soon drivers in Greece will only need to show the police their mobile phone, where they will be stored: Driver’s license, insurance and the last driving test. The police officer carrying out the check will be able to see even if the road tax has been paid.
In 2021, 500 million interactions between citizens and government took place digitally. Last year they broke the 1.2 billion barrier. On average, every Greek made use of the digital services of the public administration 120 times. The experts of the Ministry of Digital Government calculated that this way every citizen “saved” 130 visits to public services last year. The competent minister Dimitris Papastergiou intends to increase the number of digital services offered from around 1,500 today to 5,000 by 2027″.
